Whiteman Air Force Base is located in Knob Noster, Missouri, and is home to the 509th Bomb Wing of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The base is named after 2nd Lt. George A. Whiteman, a World War II pilot who was killed in action in the Philippines in 1942.
